NSBP Jobs Board Users Guide

Thank you for your interest in posting a position on the NSBP jobs board.  We hope you find posting on this jobs board quick and easy.   There are two options for posting positions,  you can either create an NSBP.org account first then post,  or you can post without creating an account.  In the former case you will able to edit the posting yourself, in the latter you will have to contact us to make any edits for you. 
 
In either case once you get to the point of adding a posting on the NSBP jobs board, we offer these step by step instructions

  1. Complete the job posting form. The International Association of Employment Web Site offers these recommendations for an attention getting posting.

  2. This jobs board is search engine optimized.  That means it is programed to make sure your posting gets maximum visibility on all the various search engines.  You can help increase your posting's visibility by doing the following:

    • Be as complete as possible in your job title, e.g., Tenure-track faculty position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Michigan" vice "Physics Faculty Position"

    • Complete the Category, Fields of Expertise, Position Type, and Position Level fields as these are primary search and browse fields.

    • We recommend that you use tags to increase the visibility of your posting. Tags are used to describe your content in simple, searchable words or phrases. A tag can be a single word or a combination of words, but should be kept as simple as possible.

      Tags are great because they get your content to the people looking for it, whether it is on Google or on a search within your site.  You may notice tags are displayed as links at the bottom of your posting.  These links are read by search engines and the search engines use them to determine what your page is about and display it appropriately in search results.  This means you get your content to the people who are looking for it!

  3. The Payment Method pulldown menu has the choices to pay either by credit card or by check.   We recommend you pay for your posting online by credit card.  Online credit card transactions are safe and secure.  Your credit card information is not saved on any server.   If you cannot pay by credit card you will be able to print out an invoice for processing by your accounts payable unit.   Postings of REU positions are free of charge.  If you are posting an REU position please select the REU Posting choice in the pulldown menu.

  4. After successfully making your payment, your posting will be put in the activation queue. You can expect to see your activated posting generally in less than 4 hours during business hours, or less than 12 hours otherwise.

  5. One your job is activated it will be sent out via several social media outlets including Twitter and Facebook.  It will also be included in our weekly e-newsletter, Waves and Packets, which has a global distribution of over 20K physics and astronomy students, faculty and researchers.
