Coe College REU Program 

The REU program at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is held jointly between the Physics and Chemistry departments.   Our site has a long tradition of strong interaction with undergraduate students pursuing high-level, publishable research.  The REU students perform research in material science, chemical synthesis, acoustics, gas phase chemistry and biochemistry, all under the common focus of spectroscopy.  The students will be trained in a variety of techniques including FTIR, Raman, NMR, time of flight mass spectrometry, absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies, x-ray flourescence, thermal calorimetry and others.
